We recently spoke with entrepreneur Jack Chen, founder, and President of B3POS, a Markham-based company offering a simple and cost-effective Point-of-Service (POS) software for small businesses.
Who are you and what do you do?
I founded B3POS in 2018. We offer a POS software solution for small businesses in the retail, food, and service industries to help merchants accept popular methods of mobile payment such as Alipay and WeChat Pay.
Tell us more about your solution:
The B3POS software is a simple yet powerful solution. Inspired by large-scale POS software programs meant for retail stores with 10 to 15 workstations, it was trimmed to keep only essential features and offers a single-station version specifically for small businesses.
Why did you decide to launch B3POS?
To help small businesses. As a small business owner myself, I understand the needs of small brick-and-mortar stores: They must do everything they can to be cost-effective, and they don’t have the time or resources to deal with infrastructure and tech support issues. I wanted to help make their lives easier so they could concentrate on running their business operations.
What are B3POS’ key features?
- Designed with one simple interface that’s easy to use. Although we offer tech support on the B3POS website forum, we rarely get any questions! Once the software is installed, it’s very straightforward.
- Cost-effective. Retail and Food/Service merchants can start with a trial version. They then can renew their subscription, product key and can choose additional hardware, starting at $59/month.
- Stable, because it was designed using the same principles as proven large-scale software solutions that have been running for years.
Who are your target customers?
We’re focusing on small businesses: Convenience stores and gift shops but also small food & drink merchants offering takeout and delivery, service business, and even flea market vendors.
How are you marketing B3POS?
Right now, through word of mouth with the help of my contacts in the Chinese Supermarket community in Toronto—where I acquired most of my experience—but we want to reach more mainstream small business. This is one of the reasons we’re partnering with OTT Pay, to get more visibility on social media and plan direct marketing campaigns.
Why did you decide to work with OTT Pay?
OTT Pay is a well-established payments company in Canada with lots of contacts and resources.
What is the biggest advantage of working with OTT Pay?
OTT Pay offers high-quality and efficient services that helped us save a lot of time and minimize development and planning costs.
How would you describe working with OTT Pay?
Their Customer Support team is professional, thorough and very helpful. They always take the time to understand our needs and ensures our visions become reality.
